Obama for America
Harper Reed is an hacker/engineer who builds paradigm-shifting tech and leads others to do the same. Harper loves using the enormity of the Internet to bring people together, whether as CTO of Obama for America, or on his own projects.
- Brought big tech to politics. As CTO of the Obama 2012 campaign, the first to bring the tech mentality to a political level.
- Opened for the rapper Sir-Mix-a-Lot as a juggling act.
- Enjoy codifying the world. From leadership to hacking, codifying a path forward through processes and protocol. Most can be extrapolated as a system.
- Do the work. Working for Seth Godin, pioneering crowdsourcing at Threadless, founding Modest Inc. and creating four patents, heading up software at PayPal.
In 2012 Harper was responsible for delivering Barack Obama’s online campaign and get-out-the-vote programme. As chief technology officer at Obama’s campaign HQ in Chicago, Harper was the man who was responsible for engineering perhaps the most sophisticated political campaign of all time.
From 2005 to 2009, Harper Reed was the CTO of Chicago-based clothing company Threadless, one of the first successful crowdsourcing companies, and helped increase revenue tenfold during that period.
